Appearance

Click the palette button at the top of Side View or the Popup. It opens the Themes page in Settings.

Light or dark

OptionWhat it does
Match systemFollows your computer's light or dark setting. This is the default.
LightAlways light.
DarkAlways dark.

A few places always use a dark look: the Popup and the Hibernation FAQ.

Themes

A theme is a color set plus a matching background, each in a light and a dark version.

  • Themes come in four groups: neutral, cool, warm and styled.
  • Each card shows the light version on the left and the dark one on the right.
  • Switch to the theme's background too is on by default. Turn it off to change only the colors.
  • The styled themes Lace and Bow add ribbon and lace trim.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds are listed by group, and each one says how well it suits the current theme:

  • Good, Works or Clashes, with the reason.
  • You can still pick one that clashes.
  • Textures are drawn in the theme's own color, so they suit every theme.
  • The table at the bottom shows every combination. Click a cell to use it.

Animated backgrounds use a little more processor. If your laptop fan spins up, pick a static one.

Your own images and colors

Use the Custom image and Custom color groups:

  • Click + to add. You can keep up to 5 images and 5 colors.
  • Click a name to rename it. Hover a swatch and click × to remove it.
  • Large images are scaled down to fit 2560 pixels.
  • They are stored only on this computer.

Cute mode

Cute mode adds small playful touches: paw marks in messages, little faces in a few places. It is on by default; the switch is at the top of the Themes page. Tab rows, window cards and buttons look the same either way.

Glass windows & tabs

Glass windows & tabs makes window cards see-through, so the background shows behind them. The switch is at the top of the Themes page.

Window tint

Each window card takes a light wash of its window color. On the Themes page, under Window tint, pick Soft (the default) or Strong for fuller color, close to the classic SessionPaw look. The side view changes right away.

Language

SessionPaw speaks 10 languages. Click the gear at the bottom of Side View or the Popup and pick one under Language. Match browser (the default) follows your browser's language.

Size and zoom

  • The number in the middle of the bottom bar is the zoom level. Click it for Zoom in, Zoom out and Reset to 100%, or use Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) with +, - or 0.
  • In the browser's side panel, SessionPaw keeps its own zoom, because the browser doesn't zoom side panels.
    • The keys work while you're inside the side panel. Click in it first. If the web page has focus, the keys zoom the page instead.
    • All open side panels use the same zoom.
  • For a narrower or wider Side View, use Settings → Enable Narrow Side View.
