Popup tools
Click the SessionPaw icon in the toolbar, or press Ctrl+E (Cmd+E on Mac), to open the Popup. Side View manages all your windows; the Popup is about the one tab you're on.
Top bar
- Avatar and plan: opens your account page. See Plans and account.
- URL breadcrumbs: the address of the current tab, split into its parts. Click a part to go to that level of the site. For example, on
example.com/docs/guide/installyou can clickdocsto go toexample.com/docs. - Snowflake, power and palette: the same Hibernate, Save or Close, and Appearance menus as in Side View.
- Auto Clean Junk Params: a switch at the top right. See Junk params below.
The seven tabs
All seven sit in one row, always in the same order: History, Parser, Bookmarks, QR Code, Site search, Junk params, Favicon. The Popup opens on the tab you used last.
History
Every title and address change of this tab.
- T marks a title change, U an address change.
- U+J or T+J (orange) means junk parameters were removed. Hover the J to see which.
- Each row can jump back to that address, open it in a new tab, bookmark it, or copy it.
History is kept until the browser closes.
Parser
The address taken apart: protocol, host, port, path, hash and query.
- Add, edit or remove query parameters.
- Parameters that match a junk rule are marked global or site. You can add any key to the rules from here.
- Apply loads the edited address in the tab. Copy URL, New tab and Bookmark it do what they say.
- A preview below the buttons shows the title and full address that will be used. If that address is already bookmarked, you'll see a note.
Junk param rules
The rules for junk parameters. See below.
Site search
Search inside the current site with Google or Google Advanced search.
Bookmarks
All bookmarks that match this page, not just the best one.
| Mark | Meaning |
|---|---|
| F | The exact address. |
| p0, p1, … | The path, then shorter and shorter versions of it. |
| h | Just the site. |
The match shown as the toolbar badge is labeled. Each bookmark can be opened, shown in its folder in the Bookmarks Manager, or copied.
Favicon
Download the site's icon in sizes from 16 to 256 pixels. Three sources are offered: the icon the tab reports, the browser's own icon cache, and Google's favicon service as a backup. The Google icons load only when you click Load from Google, which sends the site's domain to Google. Intranet and private addresses don't offer it.
QR Code
A QR code for this page, so you can open it on your phone.
- The title and address are editable. The code updates as you type.
- If you edited them, modified shows. Use current puts the tab's values back.
- Copy the title, the address, or both. Download the code as a PNG.
Junk params
Many links carry tracking parameters such as utm_source or fbclid. They make addresses long and tell sites where you came from.
Rules (Popup → Junk params tab):
- Global rules apply to every site. A set of common trackers is built in, such as
utm_*,fbclid,gclidandmsclkid. You can turn single built-in rules off, add your own, or re-enable all built-in rules. - Site rules apply to one site. Packs are built in for sites such as YouTube, Bilibili, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Taobao, JD and Xiaohongshu. Short-link domains count as the same site (for example
youtu.befor YouTube). You can add your own site packs.
Using them:
- By hand: in the Parser tab, remove junk with one click, then Apply.
- Automatically: turn on Auto Clean Junk Params at the top right of the Popup. Every time a tab's address changes, matching parameters are removed and the tab loads the clean address. The History tab records what was removed.
Auto clean is off by default. If a site stops working after cleaning, turn off the rule that removed the parameter it needs.
Bottom bar
- Open side view (bottom left): opens the full Side View. An amber ! next to it means Side View is closed right now, the same mark as on the toolbar icon.
- The gear (Settings: all settings, AI, Help & FAQ, language) and the heart (Love SessionPaw: leave a review, buy me a coffee, or send feedback), in the middle.
- Pop out tab (bottom right): moves the current tab into a small popup window.
